Industry moves to Selecta Systems

Leading PVC-u profile extruder Selecta Systems reveals the secrets to its success:

In 2011 47 fabricators switched from their existing profile supplier to Selecta Systems. To date this year, 20 followed suit and made the move to manufacture Advance 70; Selecta’s German engineered, five chambered window and door profile. In the same period Selecta has helped a number of new start ups successfully enter the fabrication market, exploding the myth that it makes better commercial sense to buy-in and install.  

The move to Selecta is an interesting trend and one that speaks volumes about the attractive package the Birmingham based systems company offer their customers. So what is the secret to Selecta’s success? Sales and marketing director Mark Richmond gives an insight into the way Selecta do business:

“Since Selecta’s formation in the early eighties we have always put customer support at the heart of our service.  We take a long term view with our customers and our speciality is nurturing fabricators and helping them grow.  We gear our service around their needs so whether they need help setting up their factory, extra deliveries during busy periods, industry advice, technical / marketing support and more, we will go out of our way to offer the solution. It’s this reason we have such a loyal customer base and continue to attract new fabricators month on month.”

Chelworth Windows

One fabricator that’s benefited from Selecta’s renowned customer and technical support is Swindon based Chelworth Windows and Conservatories. Chelworth switched to Selecta because they felt undervalued by their previous supplier and wanted to work with a systems company could help grow their business.

Chelworth’s managing director Steve Richens elaborates: “With our previous supplier we often felt just like a number on their books. Whenever we phoned them we would rarely speak to the same person twice and we were left to just get on with things ourselves. Our experience with Selecta has been totally different. They are always on the end of the phone and every question or query is immediately dealt with in a prompt and professional manner. Selecta has taken a real interest in our business and we have really benefitted from the extra support.”

Switching to Selecta certainly proved a good move for Chelworth, especially when they discovered Selecta’s Advance 70 profile could be fabricated 25% faster than their previous system. “Advance 70 has a post co-extruded gasket which makes for easier fabrication,” Steve continues. “It sped up manufacturing by 25% which means we can offer our customers a faster turn around. The system welds together very nicely and the finished product always looks superb.”

Heritage Windows

Another fabricator delighted with Selecta’s product quality and customer focused approach is Southampton based Heritage Windows. Heritage were always hearing great things about Selecta and after growing disillusioned with their previous supplier, felt the time was right for a fresh start.   

“We were with our previous supplier for nine years yet switching over to Selecta was one of the best decisions we’ve made,” comments Heritage’s co-director Peter Bailey. “Selecta were superb right from the word go and very supportive during the important transitional period. They even helped us source and set up machinery and are always on hand should we ever need them. The Selecta sales team were born on the bench – I would challenge any fabricator to ask them a technical question they don’t have the answer for.”

Co-director Rob Bailey discusses the benefits of the product: “Advance 70 is easy to fabricate and install and has gone down a storm with our factory staff, fitting teams and customers alike.”

A1 Glazing

The good feedback continues with Slough based A1 Glazing. Three years ago A1 Glazing were buying in and installing, but following a meeting at the G09 trade show they were soon fabricating windows, doors, bi-folds and patio doors using Selecta’s Advance 70 window and door profile.

With so many profile systems on the market, why did A1 Glazing choose Selecta? Managing Director Amrit Narang explains:  “Selecta’s friendly, customer focused approach and their technical expertise really stood out and we felt they would offer the most support during our initial setting up period. It proved to be the right decision and Selecta’s technical support was extremely valuable and helped us successfully break into fabrication.”  

The partnership has certainly proved successful for A1 Glazing. Three-years after the initial meeting in Wembley the company has catapulted from a standing start into one of the leading trade suppliers in the Slough area, manufacturing 300 windows per week. “Selecta are a superb supplier I have been absolutely delighted with their products, service and support. They are an ideal Systems company for anybody looking to get into fabrication or who have a low frame volume and are looking to increase” Amrit adds.
