South West fabricator sees rising demand for colour

South West fabricator sees rising demand for colour

Posted on 03/07/2014

A South West based fabricator has reported rising demand for coloured products, as its customers take advantage of lucrative opportunities associated with the trend.

MWD Trade Frames, the manufacturing arm of the Majestic Group, which is now in its eleventh year of making Duraflex products, is seeing above average demand for coloured windows and doors.

Director Jim Martin says a trend of ‘replacing the replacements’ is behind the upturn.

He comments: “There is a clear trend we are noticing hear at MWD of homeowners replacing the PVCu windows they had installed in the 1980s with modern alternatives.

“And with tastes evolving they are often doing so with bright new coloured windows. Coloured and dual colour bi-folding and patio doors are also proving popular as homeowners look to invest in products that will add value and wow factor to their properties.”

Jim goes further by saying that an economy returning to confidence, together with record low interest rates, is influencing homeowners to improve rather than move; and they are willing to invest to ensure the improvements they make are of high quality.

“This is presenting installers with lots of opportunities and we are seeing customers win business off the back of promoting colour. Homeowners that have a coloured bi-fold installed are now more tempted to install matching windows.” adds Jim.

MWD manufacture and supply Duraflex casement windows, Residential, bi-folding and composite doors, vertical sliding sash windows and patios. They are specialists in colour and can provide advice and support with how best to sell its benefits.

MWD Trade Frames recently reported that sales are 18 per cent up on the same time last year, for quarter one of this year.

And in the last few months MWD Trade Frames has undergone a major investment programme; moving to new premises and investing in new product lines and staff development.

MWD are also an environmentally friendly and a ‘thoroughly British’ company. The profile they buy is extruded locally in Tewkesbury; the glass they buy is from Mid-Devon Glass; and all the hardware and locks they use are British made.
